GUESS Jeans Fall | Winter 2009 - Behind the Scenes

For Fall / Winter 2009, GUESS introduces an edgy denim-focused campaign that merges the character and individuality of the iconic brand. The campaign, which centers around the fall 2009 denim collection, portrays GUESS in a raw, urban manner that the target customer will welcome and relate to. Under the direction of GUESS?, Inc. Chief Executive Officer and Co-Chairman of the Board, Paul Marciano, and photographer Raphael Mazzucco, the GUESS fall / winter 2009 campaign unveils a story that not only reads beautifully together, but where each individual shot can stand on its own and tell their own tale. Shot in color as well as black & white, the audience is immediately drawn into the glamorous yet edgy clothing, shot against the raw backdrop of an empty warehouse and desolate streets of downtown Los Angeles. Raphaels painting and sketches often make their way into the photographs making each image a true work of art. This links back to the GUESS fall 2009 denim assortment, where each style is individually treated with unique washes and embellishments so they can stand on their own or as a part of the collection. Klara Wester, Candace Boucher and Bruno Santos are the faces of the fall 2009 campaign. Wester, the face for the fall 2009 campaigns of GUESS and GUESS by Marciano, reprises her role in the newest campaign and is joined by Boucher, the winner of the GUESS SA Face of the Year Competition in 2001. Santos, making his GUESS advertising campaign debut, was a natural fit ...

Emporio Armani Men Fall Winter 2012-13

ESSENTIAL - read more on www.armani.com A collection that could be defined as being all about the interior world of the wearer. The austere expression of deep, conceptual sentiments, revealing the essence of a style that is pure to its very roots. Having surpassed the synthetic brilliance of nylon and the ease of sportswear, only the compact opaqueness of wool remains. The depths of black, ebony-brown, anthracite and smoke-grey are occasionally emphasized by an unexpected contrasting white cloth lining. The duffle coat is back, this time with Emporio Armani proportions (the length is 125cm). Pea coats in triple-overlapping cloth have a generous shape, while the deconstructed jackets are more long-line. The shirts show an extraordinary attention to detail, with a touch of flannel, or other contrasting cloth, at the neck and wrists. Softest sheepskin and magnificent double leather make up generous garments with a hidden double-breasted closure. The unusual tone-on-tone digital print suggests the veining of a tree trunk, adding imperceptible vibrations of colour to dark velvets. A collection of essential colours and garments, reflecting a discipline of thought and conduct. The severity is accentuated by the clean lines of the bags, briefcases and striking, large, rigid berets.

Ohne Titel - NY Fall Winter 2012

Count Ohne Titel's Alexa Adams and Flora Gill among the several designers playing with the idea of protection this week: clothing as shield against harsher elements. Underlining the idea of cocooning, smooth black caps, a collaboration with Albertus Swanepoel, were pulled low over models' eyes while faces were often half buried in funnel-like circular scarves. After venturing in a more colorful and feminine direction last season, Adams and Gill proclaimed a return to something tougher and architectural. The overall look was sleeker, harkening back to their urban-warrior roots and the fierce luxury of tops pieced out of shearling, leather, and fur that snapped insiders to attention a few seasons ago.But there was evidence here of attempting to bridge the difference. The zippered jacket on the first look out, for instance, had the feel of an armored doublet, but turned a bit sweeter with a pleated skirt. Keeping to a tight color palette of mostly black and white?an idea inspired by textile artist Sheila Hicks, who wove newspaper into some of her work?the designers used their wicked knitting skills to create great graphic jacquard textures, an element that was the highlight of this show. Knitting nerds take note: The technique required a special machine. Another sweater-y standout: The poor-boy-style knit with rippling stripes in a cardigan and calf-length dress. When it came to wovens, the duo continued their successful run of slouchy pull-on pants, here in a great feathery ...

1st Place Winner to xMeggieMakeUpx Winter Nail Contest -- Winter Blue Bear Nail Art

2/25/11 First Place Winner -- YAY! I'm so honored. :) www.youtube.com -------- I first saw the 'Blue Bear' character at our local Sanrio Store. Here is a link to a photo: www.dream-wallpaper.com But not quite sure if it is actually a Sanrio character. I thought it was so adorable that I decided to recreate it as nail art for xMeggieMakeupx's Winter Nail Art Contest. I was inspired by the icy blue color & the pure whiteness of his fur. It reminded me of fresh fallen snow in the winter. I used to live in Chicago when I was younger. I have fond memories of playing out in the snow and seeing the sparkle of the snowflakes against the sunshine. Thanks for watching my 2011 Fall and Winter Fashion video. These outfits are great for any area of the world. If it gets really cold where you live, you could always layer up and put coats on and a good idea is to wear long johns or tights/pantyhose under your pants to keep you warm. Another idea is to wear 2 pairs of socks. Any questions or comments? Leave them down below! Twitter: @sarahemily3 Facebook: www.facebook.com Tumblr: sarahmascaraaa.tumblr.com

Edwing DAngelo - Fall Winter 2011

Edwing D'Angelo - Fall Winter 2011 Given his family background in tailoring, Edwing D'Angelo did not disappoint in his Fall Winter 2010 runway show. An homage to the timeless elegance of the 40's and 50's, his collection featured finely constructed pieces in sumptuous fabrics like silk organza, Italian wool, and bridal satin. Without a puckered seam or unfinished hem in sight, D'Angelo's handcrafted creations were on par with those of Parisian couture houses. For women, D'Angelo sought to cater to the needs of the modern New Yorker. He dealed his designs mainly in black but with surprising accents. Topped in veiled and plumed pillbox hats, models paraded down the runway in flounced organza skirts and body-conscious lace sheaths. While a daring, though minimally functional, gold lamé ruffled cape dazzled the audience, the clear favorite was a black, feathered ball gown accented with an oversize red bow. However, the biggest showstoppers of the night were the Great Danes led by some of the models, adding a dramatic, yet distracting, element to the show. For men, D'Angelo favored neatly tailored three-piece suits accented with his signature red-orange lining. While the majority of the looks were harmonious in their classic sophistication, certain pieces rang discordantly—namely, a lacquered black crocodile blazer that was more reminiscent of glam rock than post-war fashion. YouSpeak: Surviving a New England Winter

Last week brought classic Indian Summer weather—temperatures so balmy that many reached again for their t-shirts and shorts. But a freak snowfall October 29 that left much of the Boston area without power for days served as reminder that winter is just around the corner. And, if the 2012 Farmer's Almanac is to be believed, "much heavier than normal precipitation" is forecast for the East coast in the coming months, with several "potent" storms predicted for February.
