Char Griller Duo with Side Fire Box and Mods

I recently purchased a Char-Griller Duo Model 5050 and a Side Fire Box Model 2-2424. I got them from local retail. The Duo had several damages inside the box. The company promptly corrected the decencies. The grill works great out of the box with gas and with charcoal in the adjustable burner tray. The paint is cheap and burned off of the trouble spots on the side fire box within 2 hours of the first firing. With the side fire box added flipping the burner tray over doesn't provide enough of a baffle to adequately distribute heat and smoke in the cook chamber. I built a water reservoir baffle and heat tuning plates that fit in the contour of the cook chamber. These would fit in just about any offset smoker of this style. They help to baffle the heat and smoke down and across the cook chamber and up through the gaps between the tuning plates. I have never been a fan of extending the chimney to the cook surface with the flex tube because I dont care for the look and taking up the cook space. I fashioned a false wall in the lid that covers the chimney opening and directs the flow to a one inch gap along the entire left edge of the cook surface. You can look down the chimney and see the smoke pulling evenly all along the baffle. If I were making this lid from scratch I would double wall the cold end by one inch and elbow the chimney into the end of the lid instead of the top. Emporio Armani 2012 Ready to wear

It's tempting to think that Giorgio Armani was anticipating a certain amount of criticism when he named his latest Emporio collection Little Winter Follies. There was certainly one element of folly here: To wit, the collection's wholesale endorsement of knee britches (the show notes called them bermudas), sometimes paired with skirts or dresses. In velvet, with jackets to match, it was hard to escape associations with Thomas Gainsborough's classic eighteenth-century painting The Blue Boy. Not in itself such a bad notion, but a tricky sell, you imagine, for a contemporary woman. Although maybe it wasn't women exactly that Armani was targeting. The staging of the show had a girlish glee, the models looked like fresh-faced ingenues as they strolled the catwalk arm in arm, smiling conspiratorially. The flat shoes helped. There were moments when the britches had a period elegance: A black taffeta jacket and midnight velvet knickers were almost a dangerous liaison. Above the waist, Armani offered such a feast of jacket options that you could see window displays for days, especially in a luminous amethyst blue. In fact, the collection used color in a way that was so strikingly un-Armani that it was practically bouleversé: Brightly hued plaids and psychedelically hand-painted Mongolian lamb jackets were folly at its most delightful.

Today's recipe for adventure: one female black lab, four to five feet of snow with more falling, a good shoeshoe hike in and out, knife and axe testing while setting up a survival shelter, and snowy firemaking in a remote area high in the Rocky Mountains! Taking place again in the "Nutnfancy Knife Clinic" (hey we haven't been here in awhile), the solitude we achieve in this winter wonderland is breath taking. But the work sure wasn't! Making a survival camp a reality in these conditions takes a lot work (hard to appreciate really until you do it!). Allie and I simulate a stuck-out survival situation in these harsh conditions and set up a survival campsite (using the portable Coghlans® brand orange plastic tube tent). This scenario was realistic and provided good gear testing opportunities. As I've done before, I show a lot of the work necessary to find and process standing deadwood into useable dry firewood with sharp edges that ignite more readily. We fall several dead trees in the process with the Cold Steel Trail Boss axe, Norse Tomahawk (very good performance for weight), and Sawvivor backpack saw and split a few other blades too (like the Dow Coated 3400A Ontario RAT-7 knife shown!). Some may say thinner wood could be used to build a fire but usually it is rain and moisture soaked therefore is an ureliable fire STARTING source. He's now started his career as an actor with a short cameo in Tom Ford's first movie. Who is this model? Jon Kortajarena, the male model of the moment, Jon is the Spanish fashion model who's all the rage. His birthdate is: May 19, 1985 in Bilbao Spain. He has dark brown hair, green eyes, he stands 6'2", collar 15".suit size 40, shoe size 12. His agency is Wilhelmina. Apparently Jon was discovered while attending a fashion show.
